The WALK Magazine Spring 2019. The Ethereal Issue adds an edge to a conventionally dainty image.
For its Spring 2019 issue, Penn’s student-run fashion publication sought to take the concept of “ethereal” to new territory, bringing an edge to what is otherwise conventionally known as a soft, dainty image. The WALK questions traditions – from the “unveiling” of the bride at the altar to the stereotypes of feminine qualities – and puts a spotlight on the efforts of those who sought to break these barriers and boundaries before women’s issues received the spotlight in today’s media. The theme of the issue also evokes the process of creating each magazine, of a process which resets each semester with new visions and ideas.
As Design/Art Director for the magazine, I led both the layout and illustration teams for the Spring 2019 issue and oversaw the process of the magazine coming together for print.
